urtica dioica effect on malonyl-coa decarboxylase
background the malonyl-coa decarboxylase (mcd, ec.4.1.1.9) enzyme regulates malonyl-coa levels. the effect of aerial parts extracts of urtica dioica (ud) on mcd is poorly understood. objectives the present experiment was undertaken to evaluate the effect of ud aerial parts extracts on mcd level. materials and methods in this experimental study, two groups of rats were used: normal and hyperglyc...
متن کاملAspartate Decarboxylase is Required for a Normal Pupa Pigmentation Pattern in the Silkworm, Bombyx mori
The pigmentation pattern of Lepidoptera varies greatly in different development stages. To date, the effects of key genes in the melanin metabolism pathway on larval and adult body color are distinct, yet the effects on pupal pigmentation remains unclear. In the silkworm, Bombyx mori, the black pupa (bp) mutant is only specifically melanized at the pupal stage. Using positional cloning, we foun...
متن کاملEffects of Teucrium polium aerial parts extracts on malonyl-CoA decarboxylase level
Malonyl-CoA decarboxylase (MCD) is an enzyme involved in the decarboxylation of malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA. In order to explore the hypothesis that the changing plant materials’ MCD activity level can serve as therapy to diabetics, the effect of Teucrium polium compounds was studied in a diabetic rat model. In this experimental study, two groups of rats, a control and a diabetic group, each incl...
متن کاملHeteroaryl substituted bis-trifluoromethyl carbinols as malonyl-CoA decarboxylase inhibitors.
A series of heteroaryl-substituted bis-trifluoromethyl carbinols were prepared and evaluated as malonyl-CoA decarboxylase (MCD) inhibitors. Some thiazole-based derivatives showed potent in vitro MCD inhibitory activities and significantly increased glucose oxidation rates in isolated working rat hearts.
متن کاملBmovo-1 Regulates Ovary Size in the Silkworm, Bombyx mori
The regulation of antagonistic OVO isoforms is critical for germline formation and differentiation in Drosophila. However, little is known about genes related to ovary development. In this study, we cloned the Bombyx mori ovo gene and investigated its four alternatively spliced isoforms. BmOVO-1, BmOVO-2 and BmOVO-3 all had four C2H2 type zinc fingers, but differed at the N-terminal ends, while...
